Management of RO Rejects and Evaporators

Water Today

To meet with the growing water requirements, along with the wastewater from municipal sewage treatment plant, it is critical to consider the reuse of wastewater from the industries wherever possible. In the Indian context, this has already been started in some of the big industries especially in metro cities and it must be implemented at all level possible industries.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is known for making very pure water, but RO also makes a lot of wastewater known as RO Reject or RO Brine Concentrate. This saline water may be prohibitive to discharge in the local sewer, and hauling the wastewater to a treatment facility is expensive. Evaporation is one of the most economical and environmentally safe ways to dispose of brackish or salty water. The complete water treatment system is free of complicated machinery and chemistry, and it will save you cost in the long-run.

Water Today is organising a training program on Management of RO Rejects and Evaporators on 3rd September, 2020 that will comprise fundamental types of industrial evaporators and crystallizers used for wastewater treatment, brine management, or improving water reuse. Lower your risks and improve costs by understanding the trade-offs between the different evaporator types.

Training Agenda:

The training will focus on the basics of management of RO rejects and thermal evaporators thereby to equip the participant with a knowledge base and the skills that will help to better understand and manage RO rejects. The following will be covered in the training:

  • Thermal treatment of fluids.

  • Striping, Evaporation, Crystallisation, Drying, Incineration

  • Multiple Effect Evaporators including Falling Film, Rising Film, Forced circulation, Natural circulation and Plate type

  • Heat optimisation with multiple effects evaporators

  • Mechanical Vapour Recompression (MVR)

  • Thermal vapour Recompression (TVR)

  • Operation and maintenance
