Pump Academy Private Limited is proud to announce that its innovative pump optimization solution, iPUMPNET, has been honoured with the National Startup Awards 5.0 under the “Bootstrap Startup Award” category for deep-tech digital management of critical pumping systems, by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The award was presented by Mr. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry, during the National Startup Day celebrations held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. As part of this recognition, Pump Academy will also receive a Cash Reward of ₹1 Million.
The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, who highlighted the transformative role of startups in nation-building. In his address, the Prime Minister remarked:
“Startups are engines of change that are shaping the future of our economy and society. They are doing exceptional work in addressing the challenges our planet faces while creating opportunities for people. I am proud of every individual who dared to dream big, challenge conventions, take risks, and create transformative impact through their startups.”
The National Startup Awards recognize and encourage startups that drive innovation, sustainability, and social impact, contributing to India’s journey toward a “Viksit Bharat.” The Bootstrapped Startup of the Year category celebrates ventures that have achieved significant success without external equity funding, relying solely on internal cash flows, founder investments, and early customer revenues. iPUMPNET was selected from among thousands of entries, underscoring its strong technological merit, commercial viability, and real-world impact.
iPUMPNET is a cutting-edge solution that is transforming how pumping stations are monitored and managed. By enabling predictive maintenance, minimizing breakdowns, and reducing carbon emissions, it significantly improves operational efficiency. The solution integrates IoT, real-time monitoring, AI-driven analytics, and smart control systems, helping utilities and industries lower energy consumption and extend the life of critical pumping infrastructure.
The technology has been successfully deployed across 78 major pumping stations of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), making BWSSB the first water utility globally to implement this patented solution at such a large scale. The implementation is expected to deliver annual energy savings exceeding ₹40 crore (USD 4.4 million).
Commenting on the impact, Dr. V. Ram Prasath Manohar, IAS, Chairman, BWSSB, said: iPUMPNET has enabled us to develop a deeper scientific understanding of our pumping infrastructure, helping us optimize energy use and ensure greater reliability in water supply. This initiative marks a transformative phase for BWSSB and sets a new benchmark for innovation in the water sector.”
Mr. Anil Sethi, Chairman, Pump Academy Private Limited, added: “The advanced technology embedded in iPUMPNET has immense potential to optimize water pumping systems, regardless of size or scale. By leveraging AI and IoT, we are not only improving efficiency but also enabling a more sustainable and water-secure future. We are deeply honoured to receive this prestigious recognition from the Government of India. This award validates our commitment to innovation and motivates us to continue pushing the boundaries of smart water management in India and globally.”
