The Tapi River is no less than a boon for Surat, popularly known as the Silk City in India. Surat is rich at this time by the waters of the Tapi River. Surat is earning about Rs 140 crore by purifying the waters of the Tapi River. The demand for clean water is very high. Tapi water is being cleaned and supplied to big industry, due to which the water department is getting a lot of income.

Around 115 million litres per day (MLD) of water is supplied to industries and industrial associations in Surat . The city has a 99.5% network of sewage treatment plants.

The Commissioner of Surat Municipal Corporation said that Surat has taken several steps for the rejuvenation and cleanliness program of the Tapi River. We are providing 115 million litres (MLD) of water per day to local industries and generating revenue of Rs 140 crore from recycled water. The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) plans to use this recycled water in other means, such as gardens, fountains.
