Veolia shares gained attention after its water-technology division announced a new industrial contract with Chilean pulp producer Arauco. Veolia will design and implement an effluent-treatment plant for Arauco’s Sucuriu pulp mill in Inocencia, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.
The Sucuriu project is a US $4.6 billion, single-phase pulp mill with an annual capacity of 3.5 million tonnes of short-fiber pulp. It is Arauco’s first pulp mill in Brazil and is scheduled to begin operations by late 2027.
Veolia’s treatment system will handle 10,600 cubic metres of wastewater per hour. The company said its advanced water-regeneration technologies are intended to prevent pollution of natural water sources and support environmentally secure industrial operations.
The announcement adds a new operating reference for Veolia’s water-technology business, although the financial value of the contract was not disclosed. It also came shortly before Veolia’s nine-month 2026 results, which were scheduled for release on November 5.
Veolia shares traded at €32.93 on Lang & Schwarz at 6:18 pm CET on November 3, 2026. The market response reflected investor interest in the company’s exposure to industrial water treatment and large-scale environmental infrastructure projects.
