QUA’s EnviQ RF 30 Improves STP Performance and Water Reuse

A commercial hub in Noida installed QUA’s EnviQ RF 30 as a retrofit membrane solution to address filtration instability, frequent cleaning and treated-water quality challenges.

A commercial hub in Noida, India, with corporate offices, co-working spaces and multinational companies, selected QUA’s EnviQ RF 30 reinforced-fiber ultrafiltration membrane to improve the performance of its existing sewage treatment plant (STP). The facility needed consistent treated-water quality for regulatory compliance and internal reuse, while managing wastewater loads that varied with daily operations.

Before the retrofit, the plant’s existing membrane bioreactor (MBR) system faced frequent membrane fouling, rising transmembrane pressure, inconsistent treated-water quality and high cleaning requirements. Mechanical-strength limitations also contributed to potting issues and fiber breakage. These problems increased downtime and operating costs, creating a need for a membrane solution that could operate reliably within the existing plant configuration.

QUA’s EnviQ RF 30 was selected for its compact, ready-to-install design and compatibility with the existing STP. According to the company’s case study, these features supported installation with minimal disruption to plant operations. The solution uses reinforced PVDF hollow-fiber membranes and a dual-airflow distribution system designed to resist fouling, maintain stable transmembrane pressure and reduce cleaning frequency.

Following installation, the plant recorded more stable filtration performance, lower fouling and consistent treated-water quality, according to QUA. The company also reports reduced cleaning frequency, lower maintenance effort, improved plant efficiency and more effective handling of changing wastewater loads under high MLSS conditions.

The case study reports water recovery of up to 95%, while meeting local discharge and reuse requirements. The treated water is reused for toilet flushing, helping reduce the facility’s freshwater consumption. QUA presents the installation as a retrofit option for underperforming MBR membrane systems where stable filtration and water reuse are required.
