The partnership, announced in a press release, brings together the Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) and the Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) to lead a digital transformation in the water sector.

The agreement focuses on optimizing NamWater’s operations to better serve its customers. Key initiatives include implementing digital payment platforms, smart water metering systems, data management and analytics, enhanced internet connectivity, and cloud computing for streamlined and cost-effective water management.

The collaboration will also involve research and development to create additional digital solutions tailored to the water sector's needs.

NamWater CEO Abraham Nehemia described the partnership as a pivotal step in “This collaboration demonstrates how technology and utility services can work hand in hand to drive meaningful change in the water sector,” he said.

MTC’s Chief Technical and Information Officer, Monica Nehemia, said: “MTC’s strategic drive has been to always create meaningful collaboration with key Namibian public and private institutions and assist them in integrating digitalisation in their operations.”
