Residents across South, Southeast, and Lutyens' Delhi should prepare for significant water disruptions on Monday, July 6, and Tuesday, July 7. The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced a scheduled maintenance shutdown to shift pipelines and connect main supply lines to new infrastructure.

According to a New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) advisory, the shutdown will primarily hit the evening water supply on July 6 and the morning supply on July 7.

Why is the Water Supply Being Cut?

The primary disruption stems from the Taimoor Nagar/Maharani Bagh drain expansion project. Following directives from the Delhi High Court to resolve chronic waterlogging in Southeast Delhi, the existing Greater Kailash (GK) main water supply line is being shifted.

Engineers are connecting it to a newly laid 1,500-mm pipeline near Khizrabad village. Once the connection is complete, an old pipeline running directly through the drain will be dismantled.

Additionally, a separate eight-hour maintenance project will take place on the 1,900-mm South Delhi main supply line linked to the Sonia Vihar Water Treatment Plant, starting at 10:00 AM on July 6.
