Coimbatore: Water and wastewater technology company Gradiant has expanded its Global Engineering Center (GEC) in Coimbatore, strengthening its engineering and project-execution capabilities in India as it supports a growing portfolio of international water infrastructure projects.

The expansion will increase the centre’s engineering workforce from approximately 100 to more than 200 professionals. The Coimbatore facility will bring together expertise in process engineering, detailed design and project engineering, allowing teams in India to take greater responsibility for engineering and design activities associated with Gradiant’s global projects.

The engineering centre is expected to support water and wastewater projects serving sectors including semiconductor manufacturing, advanced manufacturing and other water-intensive industries. Engineers at the facility will also work with technologies covering advanced water treatment, wastewater recycling and reuse while operating to international engineering and project-delivery requirements.

Gradiant has also been strengthening its project presence in India. The company reports having delivered an integrated ultrapure water, wastewater treatment and recycling, and zero-liquid-discharge facility for a semiconductor manufacturing project in Gujarat. Its recruitment activity in Coimbatore also includes engineering roles specifically supporting global water and wastewater treatment projects.

Over the next three years, Gradiant plans to further develop its engineering capabilities in India, with its Chennai and Coimbatore operations intended to function as a strategic engineering hub supporting projects in India and international markets.

For the water sector, the expansion indicates increasing demand for specialised engineering expertise in industrial water treatment, ultrapure water, wastewater recycling and ZLD, particularly from industries where water quality and supply reliability are critical operational requirements.
